Can you tell us a bit about yourself? - Where do you come from and what is your profession?

I came to Brno from a small town just outside Oxfordshire in the UK, I’m a 3D character artist at present, but have held many other roles within the games industry.

Can you tell us about your past experiences? What other projects have you worked on?

Before working in the games industry i was a traditional hand drawn animator, but after seeing jurassic park in 1993 i realised that computer generated animation and imagery had come of age, being an avid gamer i wanted to get involved in games while the 3d revolution was happening, The first project I worked on was way back in the PS1 days around 1995, since then i have worked on around 20 "title"s in various roles from animation and character art to planning and lead roles.

How did you end up working for Madfinger games?

I was working as a freelance artist on a Vr project for a client and was approached by 'Miguel' Madfingers studio head, we just started having a friendly chat at first but as i learnt more about shadowgun legends and Madfinger games I began to realise what a great opportunity working here would be.

How do you like Brno/Czech Republic so far? Would you recommend this country to others?

To be honest i knew very little about Brno, i had seen it on the map, and knew the Czech Republic was in the centre of Europe but that was about it, I have just moved my whole family over here, and i can honestly say i think it was the right move for us, There is so much to like about living here, Good Cheap Beer! Great Weather, friendly people, The city centre has beautiful architecture, while not as grand as Prague it has its own unique style and you get a real sense of history walking around it's sunny streets, I'm really looking forward to exploring the countryside around Brno, also Prague and Vienna are just a couple of hours away by bus or train which gives you a good idea of the city's location. The transport in the city is second to none it’s cheap clean and on time, Brno is a compact city and easy to get around, which gives you a lot of choice when choosing a place to live, you could be further out relaxing near the countryside or right in the city centre enjoying the bars and clubs, and still find it quick and easy to get to work.

What were your first impressions of MFG studio and how do you like working there now?

My first Impressions was of a really friendly studio (party at Brno Dam the very first weekend!), Although the Czech language is difficult, the studio is English speaking so it doesn't present any problems for us non Czech speakers. I love the truly flat management structure which allows people to have more creative input, The guys here just get the job done no endless meetings going around in circles with over complicated planning. if like me you just want to make some games and have some fun along the way Madfinger is the studio to do it in. I have to give a shout out to the HR department in madfinger, they have been amazing helping with every aspect of my move, from flights to general daily living in the Czech Republic, any questions or problems you have someone from Hr is only a call away to help you.

Can you tell us about your work at Madfinger games? What are you working on?

At the moment i'm working on some armour sets for the deep character customisation which is going to be an important part of the game, we want the player to feel invested in their character, and get involved with the shadowgun legends community, and part of that is being able to stamp your own sense of style and humour on your character.

What feature/design/mechanic are you most proud of?

The thing that impresses me most about Shadowgun Legends is the sheer scope of the project there are so many elements that need to come together to make it work, but after being here for a few weeks i think this team is going to be the one to bring the first full multiplayer shooter "shared-world" environment to mobile.Another thing i love about working here is although shadowgun is a mobile "title", the Quality of the game assets is super important to the team, the modelling and texturing is the same current get console level, then scaled to suit the mobile platform. every polygon and texture is used to its best ability, the studio is incredibly focused on creating the best possible gameplay and visual quality on a mobile device.

Can you reveal more about Shadowgun Legends?

I don't think i have a high enough security level to comment any further ;-)....... except to say that it’s going to be a lot of fun!
